The extension to the Zaragoza Exhibition Centre will be ready for Pilar 2011
The first phase of the refurbishment and extension project, costing €20 million, will be ready for the 2011 Pilar Festivals, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of the institution.
The refurbishment will allow the central plaza to be converted into a multidiscipline zone and a logistics distribution point and will see the congress centre double in size to have capacity for 1200 stands and 9 modular halls. At the same time, other works will be carried out that include the refurbishment of the facilities, the improvement of signage and the setting up of a press office. The second phase of the extension, still without a definite completion date due to the present economic conditions, centres on the construction of the future polyvalent pavilion that has been christened “Zenit”. The extension and refurbishment of the complex is being carried out for practical reasons. For each Euro billed at the Exhibition Centre, 50 are generated in the area. In 2009, it was the only Exhibition Centre in Spain that did not cancel any event, which totalled 60.
