The theme: Landscapes for life

Landscapes for a better life: Innovation and quality of life.

Landscapes are documents written on the Earth’s crust by the different civilizations that have inhabited it. Each civilization has created its landscapes in keeping with the physical characteristics of the region, the civilization’s own knowledge, its technical capacity to transform things and its particular political and social structures. Rapid technological change and the present-day scale of human intervention are expressed in new landscapes that respond to the new challenges of the global village. Horticulture, in all its forms, continues to be a fundamental factor in the quality of life. The maintenance and recovery of vegetation cover, agricultural production of quality and the creation of areas for coexistence have acquired a renewed importance in the construction of contemporary landscapes.

Flower & Garden Expo 2014 becomes an experimental laboratory for the development of innovative ideas and a meeting, exchange and exhibition centre set in the magical and exciting atmosphere typical of an international exposition.

The central theme, ‘Landscape, innovation and quality of life’, has been divided into five sub themes:

• ‘Natural landscapes: the motors of life’: The recovery of the water courses, the conservation of biodiversity, the fight against desertification and the restoration of the vegetation cover.

• ‘Rural landscapes: resources for human beings’: The production of quality foodstuffs and energy agriculture.

• ‘Urban landscapes: the place to live’: Nature in the city and the meeting of city and countryside.

• ‘Cultural landscapes: harmony and creation with nature’: The imprint of civilizations, gardens and artistic creation.

• ‘Landscape at the table: Gastronomy, health and education’: Diet is a cultural exponent of quality of life.

Contents framework.

The exposition’s contents have a strong and clear conceptual dimension with an attractive and exciting framework that gels the ideas that are being transmitted.

• Enter the landscape. Live the landscape, feel it deep inside, it’s the best way to take on board the best of our history’s heritage and confront the challenges of the future.

• Feel the landscape, enjoy life. The exposition has a clear educational and illustrative approach supported by the event’s festive atmosphere. It is an unforgettable experience to be enjoyed by your five senses.
